Minimalism
Minimalism appeals to me for a number of reasons. Simplistic designs leave room for the viewer to apply their own addition to the composition, even in a virtual, imagined sense. Clean, uncluttered, defined shapes provide structure. A flat design more clearly shows direction of up and down, left and right, without the added complexity of “in and out” of the third dimension. I have always enjoyed a simple colour palette of black, white and one other colour. I find the mix striking and strong on contrast.
I am certain that learning about illustration will enrich my skills as this is one area that has never come to me naturally. I am keen to explore and apply these skills to my repertoire!
