Creating Memories

Yesterday we celebrated the 21st birthday of Simone. Simone’s mother and I went to school together. We’ve known each other since the age of eight. That’s 45 years of memories we’ve created so far.

Last night more memories were created. I was behind the camera to capture them. It’s an honour really, to be trusted with your art to deliver something that’s forever. Simone’s 21st birthday is a once-off, never to be recreated.

An online gallery of Simone’s 21st birthday celebration is up and running. Even though there is still plenty of images to work through, edit and file, I like to establish the online gallery and share it with my client straight away so that they know things are underway and they have the link to check back as often as they like to see the image gallery grow - and share it with friends and family should they wish. It should all be done by the end of the week.

All of this makes me reflect on how much creation takes place each day; I’m talking about the creation of memories mainly. And isn’t it nice to have them recorded? I think it’s fantastic that with the convenience of a mobile phone at hand, we have the ability to capture so many memories on a daily basis.

The images I took of Simone last night were with my Nikons, but I was surrounded by at least a dozen other friends and family taking photographs with their phones. Isn’t photography just the best thing ever?!
